Pusher Trilogy (1997-2005)
Genre of Trailer – Crime/Drugs Horror
My Mark (after viewing) – 6/10
What happened in the trailer?
There was quick editing of a lot of different parts of the film, trying to show as much as possible but not giving too much away. Lots of dramatic things happened, such as someone swimming a baseball bat, shots from inside a strip club, and a man was tied to a chair too.
Which positive, clever or interesting aspects do you think you could include in your own trailer? What generic features are fulfilled well?
I really liked the quotes from leading magazines which sell that the films are “good”. There is a good contrast between these and the very quickly edited bits, which creates powerful collision cutting. The quick scenes were very quick which created excitement and weren't dull. Soundtrack syncs with changes with the shots. (gives a classy feel) and it picks out lots of interesting bits of the narrative; gore, rude, violent and lots of drugs.
Aspects of the trailer did you think were unsuccessful, and would put off its target audience? How is it disappointing?
I thought the trailer had great highlights, but you can’t pick out characters or narratives. Too fast paced – maybe it could have built speed more.
What was the trailer’s avg. score in class? Why did it receive that mark?
8. The majority of the class enjoyed the trailer as it kept everyone interested but some people were like me and found it too fast paced to keep up with.
