Class Trailer Review: Day of the Dead (1985)

Day of the Dead (1985)
Genre of Trailer – Gory Horror
My Mark (after viewing) – 4/10

What happened in the trailer?
People are in the cinema watching the film, and a zombie is also sitting in the cinema with them.
Which positive, clever or interesting aspects do you think you could include in your own trailer? What generic features are fulfilled well?
The trailer does of a good job of giving some idea of plot (zombies are outnumbering us 400,000 to 1) but it doesn’t ruin the whole narrative and we don’t know who dies. There is also one good zombie make-up effect, which is on Bub's face.

Aspects of the trailer did you think were unsuccessful, and would put off its target audience? How is it disappointing?
The parts set in the cinema are pointless/waste of time as they are NOT in the movie. There is also a comedy zombie in the cinema who isn’t in the film, which makes it seem a comedy/silly film. This misses selling the film completely. The voiceover is cheesy and over the top. There is also no gore at all which is the best part of the film. It also doesn't sell enough of the characters as 'cool' and interesting.

What was the trailer’s avg. score in class? Why did it receive that mark?
3.5 mostly because it doesn’t sell what the movie is like. It is too dull, there is no gore, little action and silly voiceover.
