In this scene from Dawn of the Dead (2004) (DotD), it shows how Monica is the typical female screaming victim, as just before this scene, she had just had sex with Steve, who had videoed them. This is common in horror movies, and can be seen in both the start of Halloween(1979) and throughout Friday the 13th(1981). Also her blonde hair and ditsy personality connotes this persona well. This image shows the moment when she gets killed by a chain saw on the bus when they are trying to escape. The quick shots in this scene indicate how quickly things are happening at that moment, and this use of montage makes the audience feel confused and panicked. Zac Synder also uses lots of close ups to show the body horror. Modern directors no longer have to worry about the hays code and censorship restrictions so they can add pretty much what they like into their films.
